Registered Trainers are approved to deliver training to early childhood professionals in Texas.
The traditional Trainer associated with TECPDS, Registered Trainers are approved to deliver professional development to child care professionals in Texas. Participation in the Texas Trainer Registry is not required to provide training in Texas, but Registered Trainers meet the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) – Child Care Licensing requirements to provide training to a person who works in the child care industry (see Minimum Standards for additional information).
Registered Trainers are listed on the Texas Trainer Registry for 3 years following the application process, with an opportunity to renew. The educational qualifications vary depending on the Core Competency Area in which the trainer wishes to become approved, however all trainers must possess at least 3 years of experience working with young children or in their area of training, and must have completed a course or 15 hours of training in adult learning.
Registered Trainers:
- Receive an assigned trainer level
- Create trainings for approval by TECPDS
- Use Event Tool for certificate and sign-in sheet generation
- Automatically receive TECPDS logos on their certificates from the Certificate Generation Tool
- Upload their approved trainings into attendees’ TECPDS accounts as “Verified Training”

Application Steps
Being listed on the Texas Trainer Registry requires completion of the Texas Trainer application to determine your qualifications to provide trainings to child care providers across the state:- View the Orientation Presentation
- Collect your professional profile documentation, including education, professional development, and work experience
- Create your training proposal, using the sample documents for support:
- Create your TECPDS account (requires a Google account to login)
- From the dashboard, click the button to apply:
- Upload your professional profile documentation and training proposal information

- Trainers listed on the Texas Trainer Registry have been labeled “quality trainers” due to the qualifications they must possess in order to be placed on this list
- Registered Trainers join a network of trainers and receive ongoing communications with presenter opportunities, training tools, and other resources that are relevant to trainers
- Trainers are invited to participate in networking events, providing opportunities to meet and greet other trainers around the state, and receive opportunities to partner with community stakeholders in order to provide quality training
- Participation in the Texas Trainer Registry validates a trainer’s dedication and qualifications, and serves as a marketing tool to promote your business
