Create standardized certificates and sign-in sheets that include all state-required information for early childhood trainings in Texas.
As a part of the Texas Trainer Registry, the Certificate Generation Tool provides opportunities for all trainers to create certificates that meet all state requirements for their training participants.
Available to all TECPDS account holders, use this tool to upload certificates directly into the TECPDS accounts of training attendees (if they provided their personal account number).
You can use the Certificate Generation Tool to create certificates for your face-to-face and online trainings, as well as coaching and mentoring!
We strongly encourage center directors who are currently providing training for their staff to use this tool because it provides opportunities to create standardized certificates that contain all of the information needed by Child Care Licensing and Texas Rising Star assessors during their visits.
TECPDS’ create certificates aligned to:
- Texas Core Competencies (required)
- Child Care Licensing Minimum Standards
- Continuing Professional Education (CPEs), if the trainer is a TEA-approved CPE provider
- CDA Competency Goals
A major feature of all certificates generated through this tool is a unique QR Code that can confirm the validity of any certificate by scanning the QR Code to confirm that the information on the certificate is accurate.

What to Look for in Training Certificates
For early childhood professionals working in Texas, there are several requirements for training certificates. Be sure to look for these features in your own personal, professional development certificates and any certificates you provide to your training attendees:
- Participant’s Name: Each participant needs their own certificate
- Number and Type of Hours Earned: Be sure to look for the type of hours (such as clock hours or CPEs)
- Date and Title of Training: Include a title that describes the training’s content
- Core Competencies: Certificates must include an alignment to the Texas Core Competencies for Early Childhood Practitioners and Administrators
- Trainer’s Credentials to Train in Texas: Be sure to look for information about the trainer’s qualifications to train in Texas, such as being a Registered Trainer on TECPDS
