Find My Career Pathway Tool

Learn how to advance on your career pathway using the “Find My Career Pathway” tool.

Available to all TECPDS users, early childhood professionals can enter information about their education, training, and work experience to learn their career pathway level using this tool. After entering information, professionals will be able to print out a custom report that shows their self-reported career pathway level and offers resources to support continued advancement in the early childhood profession.

There are two options in the Find My Career Pathway Tool:

Professionals can advance levels on the career pathway by gaining more professional experience, or obtaining additional education credentials, such as a child development associate (CDA) degree, bachelor’s degree, or beyond. Professionals can use their career pathway level to guide their professional development and growth in the future, as well as marketing themselves to employers and parents.

Login to your TECPDS account to get started. Both options (above) allow you to enter and save information for your career pathway report, as well as save information into your TECPDS account. If you’ve entered any information into your TECPDS account already, that information will appear in the Find My Career Pathway tool.

Career Pathways

Also known as a career ladder or career lattice, the career pathway relates a professional’s training hours, education, work experience, and other factors to a position on the career pathway, from entry-level to expertise in the early childhood field. The Texas Early Childhood Career Pathway (formerly career lattice) was published in 2012.

Your Career Pathway Levels

After completing the Find my Career Pathway Tool, professionals will receive a career pathway report that may include two distinct career pathway levels:

Self-reported career pathway level
Verified career pathway level

Information entered into the Find My Career Pathway tool can be validated by TECPDS-approved record validators; if any of your information has been validated, you will receive an additional "verified" career pathway-level on your career pathway report.
